The Centre district of Rennes is considered the historic heart of this Breton city. Divided in two by the Vilaine River, the Centre district features old buildings clustered together in the old town. These mansions date back to the 18th and 19th centuries, but there are also half-timbered houses that have survived since the Middle Ages. The Portes Mordelaises, remnants of the ramparts of Rennes, are a must-see. The Parliament of Brittany, dating back to the 17th century, is also located here.
