Named after a famous resident Barbara Leigh Smith Bodichon. An English educationalist and artist, and a leading mid-19th-century feminist and women's rights activist. This historic Townhouse built in 1820 by architect Joseph Kay along with the Pelham arcade and was a fashionable destination for visitors to Hastings, providing music, refreshments and a bazaar. The Artists Retreat was a real surprise package. It was close to the beach, car parking, restaurants and local shopping. The accommodation was very comfortable.
